One of the common themes that come up among my clients is perfectionism. I can already hear some of you saying, “Uh-oh, this episode is about me.” But it’s not. It’s about most of us, including myself. And we need to do something about it.
I have often denied my own perfectionism. I thought perfectionists were other people: the artists, the scientists, and the girls who matched their handbags to their shoes. I didn’t know that regular folks could be perfectionists too. But I was spectacularly wrong. Perfectionists come in all shapes and sizes. Ultimately, perfectionists fear disapproval and rejection, and they’re often their own worst critics.
Tune in this week to discover where our perfectionism comes from and why, despite what you may believe, it is not a virtue. I’m sharing how perfectionism becomes a hard-wired part of everything we do, and how to start seeing what you can do to change it and pursue your goals with more self-compassion.
