Why Do New Year’s Resolutions Fail?

January 4, 2023

Did you know that only 9% of people who make New Year’s Resolutions actually achieve them?

Here are some of the classic New Year’s Resolutions:

  • Getting healthier.
  • Losing weight.
  • Exercising regularly.
  • Getting a new job.
  • Finding a romantic partner.
  • Making more money.
  • Creating more work-life balance.
  • Feeling less anxious.
  • Enjoying life more.

The primary reason that most people don’t succeed in their New Year’s resolutions or goals is that they are not concrete enough. The key to success is by creating SMART goals.

SMART goals are defined as:
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Tangible.

When we set SMART goals, we are working towards something very specific within a certain timeline. This is a tool that I often use in my coaching practice.

Getting started. Sticking with it. Getting results. This is how we do it.

If you want to make your New Year’s resolutions stick this year, let’s start by setting SMART goals together. Book your free consultation with me here

Happy New Year!
