60 is the new 40

August 7, 2024

Okay, I will admit it. I had some not-so-positive thoughts about turning 60.

I toyed with the idea of having a big party, but I am just not a “big party kind of gal.”

What I really wanted for my birthday this year was to spend it with all of my daughters at home.

However, with the three of them living an ocean away, all starting brand new jobs, and all moving into new places this summer, the logistics were not in my favor.

But on Friday afternoon, as my husband and I were getting ready to kick off the weekend with a round of golf, they popped out of the pro shop and yelled surprise! (He had been orchestrating with them for months.)

And then, the happy tears started to flow uncontrollably.

We spent the next four days eating, drinking, playing pickleball, golf, and board games, and never stopped talking. We laughed so hard that we cried—yes, again.

It was the best birthday weekend ever.

Everyone keeps saying 60 is the new 40, and age is just a number. This weekend, it was certainly true. I felt like I was in my 20s, hanging out with four best friends, including my hubby.

There is nothing better than finding something you love to do and someone you love doing it with.

Happy Wednesday!

xo, Jackie
