I don’t know about you but I have been tired lately.
I don’t know if it is the weather or the winter season, but I find myself going to sleep earlier and waking up later these past few weeks.
For those of us who are Type A, OverAchievers, OverThinkers, and OverDoers, taking time for extra rest can feel counterintuitive to our productivity.
But if you struggle with fatigue or are running out of steam during your day, I have a suggestion for you:
Power Napping.
It turns out power napping or short naps (10-20 mins) can have as much benefit as a long afternoon snooze. Studies have shown the following benefits:
-Enhanced Mood: Reduced feelings of irritability.
-Improved Memory and Learning: Everything from better cognitive performance, memory recall, and information retention.
-Quick Energy Boost: Helping to counteract the effects of sleep deprivation and increase overall productivity.
-Stress Reduction: Reduction in cortisol–one of the stress hormones.
-Enhanced Creativity: Everything from inspiration to clarity.
And before you tell yourself all the reasons you don’t have time to power nap, just know this: Navy Seals have a method for power napping! Here is their method.
1. Lie on the floor or any comfortable surface with your feet elevated above your head.
2. Close your eyes and try to nap for 8 minutes.
3. Wake up feeling energized and refreshed!
So whether you are a stay-at-home mom, a CEO, or a Navy Seal, you can find 10 minutes to give yourself a break to recharge.
You need it and deserve it!
Happy Wednesday!
xo, Jackie
