Breathing Into a New Season

October 1, 2025

We are now officially in the new month of October.

Although the weather in Hawaii doesn’t give us the classic “sweater weather” or much in the way of turning leaves, we can still feel a shift in the air. There’s a collective energy that seems to come with shorter days—a pull toward coziness, nesting, and slowing down just a little.

For me, that’s looked like something surprising: I’ve actually been sleeping more. Anyone who knows me knows I usually run at a pretty high energy pace, and sleep is often a challenge. But lately, I’ve been going to bed earlier, sleeping more soundly, and even sleeping in a bit.

Maybe it’s the season nudging me toward rest.

In my Qigong class in the forest this morning, taught by my friend Lenna Miller, she reminded us that, in Chinese medicine, fall is associated with the Metal element and the lungs. A time to breathe deeply, release what no longer serves us, and create space for what’s next. I love that perspective.

So if you’re finding yourself needing more rest, craving new routines, or simply feeling “different,” it’s OK. Listening to what your body (and spirit) is asking for is one of the greatest acts of self-care.

Seasons change, energy shifts, and things will always settle into a new rhythm.

Perhaps you are feeling a seasonal change or the need for change in some aspect of your life, but aren’t sure where to start or what that means.

This is the essence of working with a life coach. I ask the questions that you might be afraid to ask yourself, and together we create a roadmap for the steps you need to make a change.

Feel free to schedule a complimentary discovery call with me here to learn more. Or, if we have worked together in the past and you need a little tune-up, let’s set a call for that.

Happy 1st Day of October!
