End of Summer Blues

August 14, 2024

The other day, I talked with a client about her “End of Summer” blues.

For her, it was about counting the remaining weekends of sunshine and pool time and ramping up to get the kids back to school.

For me, it’s about losing the extra hours of playing sports in the late afternoon.

Although I live in a place where sunshine is year-round, I still share those feelings about summer ending.

Summer is not just about longer days and warmer temperatures. It’s a collective vibe.

It conjures a more carefree spirit, backyard barbeques, outdoor activities, vacations, and playtime.

Summer feels less structured. Less obligatory. More playful. So, it’s natural to feel slightly melancholy as summer winds down.

So, how do we keep that sense of wonder, playfulness, and those good vibrations into the fall season?

We start by leaning into change.

Whether you enjoy wearing your favorite sweater, watching the leaves turn colors, football, eating comfort foods like hearty soups or chili, or simply gearing up to decorate for the holidays.

Every season has its own vibe, with its pros and cons. But it’s important to find something you love about each season and focus on that.

I welcome the cooler evenings, snuggling under a blanket, and soup season.

What’s your favorite season?

Happy Wednesday!

xo, Jackie
