Joy Is Jet Fuel

May 22, 2025

Last week, I skipped the newsletter because I was off the grid—well, off the calendar—on my first-ever mother-daughter(s) trip to NYC with my three adult kids.

Two long flights, a six-hour time difference, days and evenings packed with Broadway shows, great food, museums, endless walking, and lots (and lots) of laughing—all jammed into five days.

By all accounts, I should have been exhausted, but I wasn’t. Not even a little. I felt energized.

It was not because I managed my sleep (I didn’t), drank green juice (also a no), or stuck to a routine (definitely not). I was running on pure joy.

Joy Is Like Jet Fuel.

Spending time with people I love, in a place I adore, doing things that made me feel alive—that fed my soul. And somehow, my body got the message.

Which ties perfectly into this week’s podcast episode.

This week on The Overthinker’s Guide to Joy podcast, I sat down with somatic coach Bea Albina to discuss the mind-body connection—how our emotions affect our physical energy and how our nervous system constantly processes everything we experience.

🎧 You can listen to my interview here.

We often think rest is the only way to recover energy. But sometimes, doing what you love—spending time with friends or family, taking a quick trip, or diving into a creative project—can restore you just as deeply.

👉 Here’s your micro-coaching challenge: Think of one thing that feeds your soul and schedule it. Even if it’s just 30 minutes, make it happen.

Happy Wednesday!
