Knowing When It Is Time To Leave

October 11, 2023

Last week, I saw this meme:

“Knowing When to Leave Is So Important.
The Party. The Job. The Relationship.”

These are often the questions we ask ourselves during a Mid-Life Crisis.

But a Life Crisis is not just unique to Mid-Lifers, we are vulnerable at any age because a Life Crisis is often an Identity Crisis.

As we mature, we continue to develop our likes and dislikes, which influence our goals and choices.

But, oftentimes, no matter how much planning we do, life can turn out differently than we originally envisioned.

When we are out of alignment with our own values, our circumstances (jobs, relationships, financial situations, environment) can cause us to experience pain psychologically and otherwise.

And then, it can feel like a crisis.

Last year, I did a podcast episode where I talked about a “client” going through a Quarter-Life Crisis at the age of 25. After getting a new job, trying to maintain a long-term relationship, and moving to a new city, she found herself miserable with all of her choices.

She thought she was “failing at life.”

On today’s episode of The OverThinker’s Guide To Joypodcast, that client, who also happens to be my daughter Morgan, offered to come onto the podcast to share her story about how she navigated through her own Quarter-Life Crisis.

Her journey is an inspiration to anyone who thinks that they are “stuck” in their circumstances. You can listen to the episode here or wherever you get your podcasts.

Happy Wednesday!
xo, Jackie
