My High School Reunion

May 26, 2022

I recently attended my 40th high school reunion, and it was awesome!

Here are TWO fun facts about this event:

1)  This was the first high school reunion that I have ever been to.
2)  I didn’t even attend this particular high school.

And oddly enough, I felt right at home.

I reconnected with people that I haven’t seen in more than 40 or 50 years.

These were the kids that I grew up with.

We shared memories of birthday parties, playdates, favorite restaurants, first crushes, heartbreaks, and deep friendships.

We, also, reminisced about some of the REALLY STUPID things we got away with.

Some of the people looked exactly the same. Others were barely recognizable.

But none of it mattered, because when we saw started talking, there was an immediate connection, nostalgia, and kinship.

We all admit to looking older, and yet, we all still feel like teenagers at heart.

These were the people I share a history with, even though our lives have gone in so many different directions.

And after more than two years of relative isolation, due to the pandemic, everyone just felt grateful to reconnect IN PERSON.

My biggest takeaway:  The Importance of Community.

I had an amazing community growing up, but I am also reminded of how important it is to never stop cultivating community wherever you are.

Today’s episode of “The OverThinker’s Guide To Joy,” is all about the lessons I learned from my high school reunion. You can listen here or on Apple, Spotify, Amazon, or YouTube.

If you are feeling in need of creating more community in your life, I would love to help you get started. You can book your free consultation right here

Happy Wednesday!
