New Year’s Resolutions Don’t Work

January 5, 2022

Here we are into Day 5 of the New Year, and due to the new Covid variant running amok, it’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day: The 2022 Edition.

We are all tired of this pandemic, but the pandemic does not seem to be tired of us.

Silly me, I thought if we washed our hands, wore our masks, avoided large gatherings, and got (triple) vaccinated, we would be back in control.

But once again, I am reminded that we CANNOT control everything.

So, I ask myself the question: What CAN we control?

We can only control our own habits and mindset.

My daily habits include:

Drinking plenty of water.

Making healthy food choices.

Getting plenty of rest.

Meditating.

Exercising.

I didn’t always practice these daily habits. They were actually cultivated from past New Year’s GOALS.

(Notice that I didn’t say RESOLUTIONS.)

I don’t believe in New Year’s RESOLUTIONS because I don’t think they stick.

You might be wondering what’s the difference?

In today’s episode of The OverThinker’s Guide to Joy, I talk all about Resolutions vs. Goals, and how to make YOUR goals a habit. You can listen to the episode by clicking here or listening on Apple, Spotify, or YouTube.

Happy New Year!

xo, Jackie

P.S. If you are ready to change something big (or small), I am here to help. I work with clients 1:1, and it starts with a free consultation. You can schedule yours right here.

P.P.S. We cannot control everything, but we can definitely take control of our own well-being and happiness.
