As a society, we are obsessed with the idea of being happy. There is a lot of toxic happiness around, and if we’re not happy, we feel a pressure to change that. And even for me, a lot of my writing and podcasting focuses on how to feel better – not just feel better, but ultimately be happier. 

However, I don’t think of happiness as an entity or destination, rather a state of being, and a temporary state of being at that. This is especially true for overthinkers like us. Just because something looks perfect on paper and we think we’ll love it, that doesn’t guarantee happiness either. But the truth is, you don’t actually need to feel happiness, especially not constantly.

Tune in this week to discover why being happy is not a prerequisite for a life well-lived, even though it is a bonus. I’m discussing how that overthinking brain of ours gets in the way of us experiencing positivity, the daily practices that will allow you to experience more joy, and ultimately why there is no pressure to be happy here.
