We tend to think of addiction, or addicts, as people with potentially dangerous habits. This brings to mind drugs, alcohol, gambling, and so on. But the truth is, there are equally damaging addictions that don’t get as much attention. Addiction comes in all shapes and sizes, and most of us are addicted to something.
People joke about being addicted to sugar, caffeine, food, or their smartphones. Because these things are considered socially acceptable, we don’t pay them much attention. But honestly, they’re just as serious of an addiction as anything else, and any addiction makes it more difficult to build healthy daily habits and let go of unhealthy ones.
Tune in this week to discover the intricacies of our modern-day addictions. I’m sharing how perfectly practical things like smartphones and food become addictive. But most importantly, I’m showing you how as a society we have become addicted to anxiety, and I’m walking you through the step-by-step of breaking the cycle.
