What Is Stress Doing To Your Body?

Stress: The Gift That Keeps On Giving…And Giving…And Giving…

We all know that stress is a normal part of life. It’s like the annoying relative who always shows up uninvited, but instead of bringing over a pie, it brings headaches, heart palpitations, and the occasional panic attack.

When we’re stressed, our bodies go into “fight or flight” mode, which is like our bodies saying, “Hey! Danger ahead!” This response triggers the release of adrenaline and cortisol, which can make our heart race, our blood pressure skyrocket, and our breathing become more shallow.

I know this firsthand because this is the perpetual state I lived in for most of my professional life in the television industry.

But the fun doesn’t stop there.

Chronic stress can weaken our immune system, making us more vulnerable to illness and infection. It can also increase our risk of heart disease, stroke, and high blood pressure.

Stress can also cause digestive problems, and musculoskeletal problems, and let’s not forget about the effects on our mental health, which can range from mild anxiety to full-blown depression.

And finally, stress can rob us of our precious sleep, leaving us with bags under our eyes and dark circles that would make a raccoon envious.

Stress is a major buzzkill, but we can fight back. By managing stress through healthy lifestyle choices, relaxation techniques, and seeking help when needed, we can keep stress from ruining our lives and bodies.

So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed and need some help taming the stress dragon, let’s schedule a time to chat by sending me a DM.

When we learn to manage our stress, we open the doors for greater success!
