The Overthinker's Guide to Joy with Jackie de Crinis | Embracing Failure

Ep #21: Embracing Failure

January 26, 2022

Something that comes up continually in my sessions with clients is the relationship between failure and success. So many of us understand our fear of failure. However, a fear of success is much more difficult to identify, and I have come to realize that failure and success are inextricably intertwined, with fear being the glue that binds them.

On consults, people say things like, “I want to hire you to help me lose weight, but I’m afraid you’ll put me on a diet.” Or they’ll say, “I’m afraid you’ll tell me to quit my job because it’s making me miserable.” In other words, people don’t want to hire a coach for fear that they might actually get what they want. Isn’t that confusing? Well, it’s actually surprisingly common, and if it sounds like a familiar pattern in your life, I want you to listen closely.

Tune in this week to discover why your fear of success and your fear of failure are two sides of the same coin. I’m sharing how to see where your fear of failure or success is coming from and gain control over the thoughts that are stopping you from pursuing what you really want.

If you want to learn more tips for managing your stress and your overthinking brain, I highly recommend signing up for my weekly newsletter here!
