Life Instructions

June 24, 2021

This week I was cleaning out a closet full of old stuff, and I came across an email from 2002.

The subject headline read: Life Instructions.

I was curious, to say the least.

Here’s what I had highlighted on the list:

  • When you say “I love you,” say it truthfully.
  • When you say “I’m sorry,” say it with eye contact.
  • Believe in love at first sight.
  • Love deeply and passionately. Even if you get hurt, it is the only way to live life at its fullest.
  • Bless a person who has sneezed.
  • When you lose, do not lose the lesson.
  • Remember to respect yourself, respect others, and take responsibility for your actions.
  • Smile when you answer the phone. Those who call can “hear” your smile.
  • Marry (or be with) the person you love talking to the most.
  • When you get old, conversation will be more important than anything else.
  • Never interrupt someone who flatters you.
  • Once a year, visit a place you have never seen.
  • Remember that sometimes, not getting what you want is very lucky.

It is still a good list, but today, I would add a few more of my own:

  • Do what you love and the money will come.
  • Success is about three things: Showing up consistently, being on time, and telling the truth.
  • Allow the universe to provide for you.
  • Be the energy you want to attract.
  • Be the type of person you admire.
  • Appreciate what you have.
  • Forgiveness, gratitude and kindness are all superpowers.

Life is experiential. We learn mostly by trial and error, but that can be a long and windy road. As we stumble around in the dark, we often wish there was an easier way.

Although life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, there is life coaching.

It’s the road map or shortcut to creating greater peace and happiness when you feel a little lost.

If you are in need of finding your path or just creating a new one, let’s chat. You don’t have to keep walking in circles alone.
